Vinnie Notta is the ultimate grinder and shows his leadership abilities through his hard work and toughness on the field (and on the ice). Vinnie is the type of grinder you look for in a catcher and calls an excellent game behind the plate. On the year Vinnie has caught 88% of the innings (113.1) for 12u and has caught 7 runners stealing and picked off 2. At the plate he continues to be solid and provides timely hits and Hit by pitches. Lastly this is the 1st season Vin has taken on the task of pitching, and he hasn’t disappointed... In his 3 appearances (6 innings) he has struck out 8 and only allowed 3 earned runs. Every team needs a kid like Vinnie that Is willing to work and grind wherever the team needs him the most. Keep Grindin’ Niner!
Trey “Dizzle” Hoyle returned to action this week and boy was he on fire. In our four games, Dizzle batted .750, with four singles and two doubles. Rumor has it, the authorities are looking for Dizzle after he stole a total of 7 bases between Roselle, Bartlett and Downers Grove. Don’t worry Dizzle, they cant catch you, nobody can. On the mound, Trey was dominant throwing four innings while striking out three batters, and allowing only one earned run on just 46 pitches. Dominant is the word that comes to mind. Defensively, Dizzle was as spectacular as you’d expect, making Dizzle like plays at both centerfield and shortstop. Heck of a return for you
This weeks 11U White POW is the flame thrower Stevie Pizzuto.
Stevie went into Winfield Memorial Day tournament on a mission to get back on track at the plate. He didn’t get back on track he set the track on fire. His biggest moment was a bases clearing triple that short hopped the 260Ft fence and almost went out. This weekend Stevie pitched like a fire Marshall and made baseballs cry when they were pitched to him. He had 5 hits 5 RBI and four of those hits were Extra base hits. Cheers to Stevie because he’s an awesome Silverhawk!
After starting off the season later than most teams, 11U Green came out of the gates swinging, led by none other than Joe "Fahgettaboudit" Fekete. Big Joe picked up right where he left off last season going 8-14 at the plate with 5 doubles, 1 homer, 4 RBI, and 15 total bases in week 1. Big Joe's game is only rivaled by his stature as he will be one of the most feared power hitters in the league this season.
Continuing with the 11U Green momentum, Jake "Grinding" Gerhardt got it done in both the field and at the plate. Jake was all smiles at the plate going 4-8 with 8 RBI through 3 games. He also proved to be an emerging defensive star at 3B showing that the hot corner isn't too hot for Jake Cool. Gerhardt will be a two way star for 11U Green this season.
This past week, Leo "Game Time" Heath proved to everyone why he is one of the best new additions to the 11U Green Silverhawks. Leo went 8-13 this past week with 9 total bases, and 5 RBI. Leo can always be counted on to come up clutch in game time situations with timely hitting. Not only is he one of the best bats on the team, Heath has also been a force on the mound. This past weekend, in the Salute to Service Tournament in Lake Geneva, Leo pitch a 6 inning complete game and earned the GameDay MVP from the other team. Leo continues to impress in all facets of his game week in and week out.
