This week 10u Black is recognizing two Silver Hawks as Co-Players of the Week.
Beckett Young aka “B-Kat” has fought hard to get things rolling after an early injury that forced him to miss multiple games at the beginning of the season. Of late, B-Kat has been tremendous at the plate and in the field. B-Kat is hitting the ball all over the field, hit a homerun against a Clarendon Hills and just missed another this past weekend after smoking a rocket off the right centerfield fence against Bolingbrook. When B-Kat gets on base, he’s stealing every base available. Defensively, B-Kat has played all outfield positions and continues to use his blazing speed to make play after play. Way to be B-Kat, keep it up.
Liam McEwen aka “Big Sexy” our teams vocal leader who gets us all fired up with his “I want to win, you want to win?” chant before each game. Liam has played amazing defense at first base of late, with picking throws off the dirt, smothering ground balls, and catching every popup that comes his way. At the plate, Big Sexy can put a hurting on the ball. If it weren’t for fences set at 300 feet, he too would have a couple homers under his belt. With a name like Big Sexy, you wouldn’t expect him to be one of the best baserunners on the team but he truly is. He gets good jumps and is a high IQ baseball player. Nice work kid, keep being that vocal leader that every team needs
Jacob Bral... also know as the Brawler has been swinging a hot bat! Batting .636 this week with 10 stolen bases! He's on his way to becoming the captain of our infield and mark my words, next season this kid will be a beast on the mound. Way to go Jacob, we're excited to see what the rest of the season and future years hold for you! Keep up the great work!
These two little men play so much bigger than they are! They were both recognized as Game Day MVP’s last weekend and played their hearts out. Drake had a great dominating win on the mound and Reese controlled the game from behind the plate. These two lead by example and those smiles don’t leave their faces. You are both a joy to coach and are definitely on the right path! Keep it up boys!
Whether he’s rocking his Pit Vipers, hitting the gritty, or flashing his dimples, 10U Green’s Player of the Week always makes sure that he “look real good today”. Joey Ginnan has assertive himself as the vocal leader of our 10U Green team. #5 always leads warmups, cheers on his teammates, and holds them accountable when necessary. He has also proven himself to be one of the best defensive first basemen in the league. As someone with strangely short arms, Coach Uncle T Rex is always amazed by Joey’s stretching ability, “how he do that”. Leadership is a true gift that can’t be taught and we are lucky to have Joe Ginnanimal with the SilverHawks.
This week the award goes to the Dads for inspiring their sons to pick up a ball and have a catch. Thank you dads for the countless hours of practice in the back yard or parks. Thank for inspiring your kids and teaching them the love of the game of baseball!
Dillon’s a fierce competitor and has helped this team with both his bat and his arm. He’s been dominating on the mound all season and started this week off with a pair of big RBI doubles. When he’s locked in, there isn’t anything he can’t accomplish. We’ll be looking for some big things from him in next week’s playoff game. Way to go Dillon!
