Proudly Serving the Community
|
As much as the Silver Hawks depend upon their community for their support, as an organization, we also make a commitment to serve that same community through two distinct types of activities.
| |
Each Spring and Fall, the Silver Hawks gather on a Saturday to perform trash pick-up on their adopted section of Stearns Road in Bartlett, ranging from Bartlett Road to Newport.
|
At Christmas, the Silver Hawks officially kick off the upcoming season with their annual Christmas Party. All players are asked to attend and contribute a new toy and dry/canned food items. Toys are donated to the Central DuPage Hospital Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department's patients at their Christmas Party. Silver Hawk players attend and assist the patients and Santa Claus at the hospital party. The food items are donated to the Humanitarian Services Project, Wayne Township, and Resurrection Church food pantries.

The Silver Hawks and Christmas 2009 ~~~ Helping Central DuPage Hospital and The Matt Wright Memorial Scholarship Fund
| |
|
In 2009, the Silver Hawks 18U young ladies again teamed with Central DuPage Hospital and Santa Claus on December 4 to help make Christmas a little bit more special for the children in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department.
Donating over 100 new toys for Santa's hefty sleigh, the Silver Hawks also helped Santa in distributing the gifts, making Christmas ornaments, and decorating cookies. Although they received many thank-you's from coaches and hospital staff, it was clear that the most important thank-you's they received were in the faces, hearts, and hugs from their new-found friends.
Working to get the funding for The Silver Hawks' Matt Wright Scholarship Fund up and running, members of the Silver Hawks 10U and 12U Softball teams joined to create Christmas candles and ornaments which they are selling through The Hitting Zone.

|
Spreading their generosity even further, the Silver Hawk players also donated over 1250 food items between the Wayne Township, Humanitarian Service Project, and Resurrection Church food pantries. As they've done for the past 11 years, the Silver Hawks continue to demonstrate that they are all MVP's - both on and off the field!
