2011 – 14U Bartlett Silver Hawks Season to Remember

The 14U Bartlett Silver Hawks had an AMAZING 2011 Season!  I believe a realistic goal each season for a good travel baseball team is to go out and win at least 2 tournaments and win 30 games in a 40+ game season.

Well, this travel team accomplished that and more! This group of 11 players started out the month of April with a 4-2 record, losing their last 2 out of 3 games in a round robin.  Since then the team won their last 37 of 40 more games played, giving them a 41-5 season record.  The team won (5) Tournaments this year and blended in a 2nd place finish as well.

The team’s record in the last seven tournaments
·         May 13-15:  2-0 in a rain shortened Barrington Tournament
·         May 20-22:  4-0 to win the Big Rock Cobra Wood Bat Slugfest Tournament
·         June 3-5:  4-1 in the Lombard Wood Bat Tournament for 2nd place
·         On June 10-12:  5-0 to win the Wisconsin Dells Water Park Capital City Classic Tournament
·         On June 24-26:  6-0 to win the Belvidere Diamond Classic Tournament
·         On July 8-10:  3-0 to win the Kane County Bronco League Tournament
·         On July 14-17:  5-0 to win the St. Charles Welcome to High School Summer Slam
This was just a Fantastic Season - “A Season to Remember”!  Congratulations 14U Bartlett Silver Hawks!

During the weekend of June 11-12, the Rockford Big Dogs baseball organization hosted their Strike Out Hunger Tournament.  Each player brought 10 cans of non-perishable food to be donated in the Rockford area.

In the 13U bracket, the Bartlett SilverHawks Green went 4-0 and took first place.  They first defeated the Burlington Blaze 10-2 and the Rockford Big Dogs Red 8-0.  Receiving a bye as the first seed, the SilverHawks went on to win the final game 6-2, taking the trophy.

West Point!

Silverhawk Rae Anne Payleitner of St. Charles received and accepted an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point.  Recruited by Army Coach Michele DePolo, Rae will likely be the number two catcher behind First Classmen (Senior) Rachel Duvall of Auburn, Georgia.  Rae Anne will be reporting for Basic Training ("The Beast") the last week of June.  You'll be able to follow Rae Anne and the D-1 Blacks Knights at goarmysports.com.  Coach Brad Dennison said, "We're going to miss Rae Anne, but I couldn't be more proud.  I feel safer already!"

Building Character

“Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” – John Wooden, former Basketball Coach, UCLA
